Gakob Nori, an Egyptian national resident in Mosta, today pleaded not guilty after having been charged in court of having stolen a pouch containing €2,640 and personal documents from Carmel Botterill in Mosta.

Defence counsel Raphael Fenech Adami said during submissions on bail that the two men knew each other and Mr Botterill was accusing his client of taking the money. He said the accused had been in Malta for several years and there was no fear that he would jump bail. The police agreed.

Magistrate Antonio Vella granted the accused bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000.
