Keith Agius, 21 of Qormi was today given a one-year-jail term suspended for two years after pleading guilty to having stolen a laptop worth €700 and a Playstation 3 worth €300 from the residence of Dorian Cassar in Qormi. The case happened yesterday.

Sources said that Mr Agius was arrested after a police search of his bedroom following a tipoff. The stolen items were recovered.

In a separate case, Francis Formosa, 39 from Burmarrad, and Joseph Brincat, 48 of St Paul's Bay, both pleaded not guilty to usury and threatening a person. Mr Formosa was also accused of breaching the conditions of a previous release and relapsing. They were granted bail against a deposit of €5,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.

The two are alleged to have given the victim €4,000 and were demanding €1,000 per month in interest. The outstanding amount reached €17,000.
