An application by a British woman for a Maltese court to order the return of her 15-year-old son to the UK has been turned down.

The boy came to Malta with his brother to visit his British father, who lives in Malta.

The Family Court found that the boy did not wish to return to Britain and wished to stay with his father in Malta. Furthermore, in the UK the boy was not living with his moher but with his half-brother.

The court said the interests of the child were best served if he was allowed to stay in Malta.

Another boy who came to Malta with his brother opted to return to the UK.
