Two brothers who placed a vicious pit-bull dog at their front door to intimidate police officers were yesterday charged with drug trafficking and money laundering, following a raid at their house on Tuesday.

The brothers, 32-year-old Freddie and 29-year-old Roderick Delia, placed the dog outside the front door of their house in Żabbar to make the officers' life difficult when they repeatedly tried to speak to them, Police Inspector Jesmond Borg told the court yesterday.

Police sources said the house in question had metal bars on the windows and was equipped with CCTV cameras.

The two burly men pleaded not guilty to trafficking in cocaine and heroin and money laundering on different dates between February last year and Monday.

Magistrate Silvio Meli denied bail after taking into consideration the seriousness of the alleged crime and the fact they were also charged with relapsing.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for the accused.
