Addie Magri, 37 of Senglea, was today remanded in custody today after pleading not guilty to possessing and trafficking heroin and committing the crime within 100 metres of a place frequented by minors. He was also accused of relapsing.

Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara told the court how investigations led the police to establish that Mr Magri had sold drugs to Kelly Micallef, who died of an overdose earlier this week.

He said that Mr Magri had not been charged with involuntary homicide because the circumstances of her death showed that this was an overdose and he just sold the drugs to her.

The court, after taking into consideration that there are still two witnesses to be heard, remanded him in custody.
