The court has rejected a request by Liquigas for an injunction to stop Easygas from collecting its gas cylinders.

In its decree, the court said that since it was not satisfied of the necessity for the warrant, it was rejecting the request.

Liquigas had said it had started distributing gas cylinders when it took over from Enemalta Corporation in 2008 after winning an open call for tenders.

It had also bought a large number of cylinders which were in the possession of households.

Liquigas argued that the gas cylinders distributed to consumers remained its’ property against a deposit.

It said that in spite of this, Easygas was regularly collecting empty gas cylinders that belonged to it, without permission, and was now in possession large number.

It had described the actions as “illegal and abusive” and in violation of its proprietary rights.
