Transport Malta was today ordered to pay Fleur Balzan her due refund of €4,401.37 as well as damages.

Ms Balzan had instituted legal action against the authority after she was told that the refund she was due as additional payment she made on a car’s registration tax would be refunded in 25 years.

In its judgement, the Court said that the authority’s behavior was arrogant and unacceptable.

The authority had the duty to be effective and efficient and to show goodwill in its operations towards citizens to minimize the waste of financial expenses, stress and to make better use of resources.

Dr Toni Abela and Dr Charmaine Galea were defence counsel.
