The Institute for Environmental Studies (IES), Mosta, is holding a course entitled 'Native trees of the Maltese islands' from March 9 to 11. It consists of three evening lectures and two field trips. The course is of particular relevance to biology teachers and students, local councils, planners, architects, environmental protection officers and NGO members. Photo shows a Holm Oak (Quercus ilex), commonly known as 'Balluta', at Buskett. For further information, contact IES co-ordinator Julie Tabone on 2143 1910 or visit www.ies.edu.mt.
