An elderly couple were injured when they were hit by a Mazda car in St Joseph High Street, Sta Venera, yesterday at about 6 p.m.

The police said the woman, aged 69, was grievously injured while the man, aged 72, suffered slight injuries. They were sent home after treatment.

The car involved in the accident was driven by a 53-year-old man from Ħamrun.
