With all its limitations, Malta has proven that it was possible, with good hard work, to be successful without resources, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this morning.
Closing a three-day conference on the government Vision 2015+, the Prime Minister said this was due to the people and to the politicians who had drawn up a vision for Malta which always looked ahead.
Many challenges faced the country, including the water and electricity bills, the future of the manufacturing industry, dependency on tourism, immigration, energy sources, water, agriculture, values and tolerance.
The idea behind the 2015 vision idea was to invite everyone to decide together on the best way ahead for the country in a number of sectors, chosen because the government believed they were areas in which Malta could shine.
