Top F.O.I. officials met Minister for Investment, Industry and Information Technology Austin Gatt over an informal lunch at the FOI offices in Floriana on May 5.

The main purpose of this meeting was to introduce the minister to the FOI Council, comprising also of its recently co-opted members, as well as to discuss industry-related issues.

There was an exchange of views on Malta's status on the Lisbon objectives, as well as on venture funds, SME clusters and factory allocation.

The FOI officials, led by the FOI president Adrian Bajada, also raised their concerns on various government-induced costs, which are hindering industry's competitiveness as well as the importance of the much-awaited port reform.

For this event, Malta Enterprise chairman Joe Zammit Tabona and chief executive officer Philip Micallef accompanied Dr Gatt. The FOI delegation also comprised of vice-presidents Joe Pace, Helga Ellul and Ian Mizzi; council members Anton Borg, Angelo Xuereb and Steinthor Palsson; director general Wilfred Kenely; and consultant Edwin Calleja.
