A St Paul's Bay council supervisor sustained facial injuries when he was beaten up after drawing someone's attention to the fact that he was dumping household waste after collection hours.

In a statement, the council expressed its solidarity and support with the employee and said it reported the incident to the police.

The council said the incident took place in the core of Bugibba.

It said this was not the first time that councillors and staff were threatened.
