The cost of property in Malta decreased by 3.5 per cent in the first quarter this year, according to statistics published by the NSO.

The NSO said that in the period, the All-Property Price Index stood at 152.08, a decline of 3.5 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.

This primarily reflected a decline of two per cent in the apartments index. The maisonettes index went down by 9.8 per cent.

The All-Transactions Volume Index showed that the number of transactions in the first quarter increased by 7.1 per cent when compared to the corresponding period last year.
