A Coptic priest has been invited to take part in tomorrow’s traditional Ash Wednesday pilgrimage as a sign of solidarity by the Church in Malta with the Egyptian Coptic community after 21 Copts were decapitated by Isis in Libya.

The invitation was made by the Apostolic Administrator, Bishop Charles Scicluna, who will lead the pilgrimage from San Girgor church to the parish church of Zejtun.

The priest, Abouna Boulos Elsouriany, accepted the invitation.

The Church in a circular reminded the faithful of their duty to make sacrifices during lent.

Bishop Scicluna urged the faithful to offer prayers for Malta to get a new Archbishop.

He also urged prayer within families and acts of charity.
