A cooperation agreement for exchanges of news and current affairs programmes has been signed between Public Broadcasting Services Ltd and China Central Television.

PBS said this morning the agreement concerns the transmission via satellite or FTP of television news programmes that have been transmitted or are about to be broadcast by the other party in accordance with the technical facilities of each; the provision of news feature programmes; the filming and production of news reports on agreed topics in international acoustic version, together with the texts of the reports in English.

The agreement confers the right to both organisations to receive, record and use for free the news programmes broadcast from identified satellite channels.

It also incorporates the right to conduct live broadcast of breaking news by authorising free access to live signals filmed and broadcasted by the authorising party itself from the agreed satellite channels.
