October was slightly cooler and drier than average, according to the meteorological office.

Official figures show that, at 20.2oC, October was an average 0.5oC cooler than the norm,. The maximum temperature was 26.6°C and the lowest was 11.8°C.

The average sea surface temperature was 23.5°C, wind speed averaged 7.7 knots and humidity reached 75 per cent. There were three days of thunderstorms - three days less than the average experienced during October over the past 30 years. The stormiest October was in 1962 with 12 thunderstorm days.

The total rainfall was 61.2 millimetres.
