Norwegian musician and composer Terje Isungset blew cold air as he performed with a horn, hand-crafted from glacier ice, ahead of a series of performances in London.

Mr Isungset, also one of Europe’s leading percussionists, played his composition Ice Music during the week at Somerset House as part of its New Year ice rink season.

As well as the horn, he also unveiled his “iceophone” and other percussion instruments, each made from ice dating back 600 years from the Jostedalsbreen glacier.

They been brought over from Geilo in central Norway, where Mr Isungset founded the world’s first ice music festival in 2006.

He crafts instruments from natural Norwegian products such as arctic birch, granite and slate.

The festival – which runs until January 23 – includes the annual skate school with Olympic ice dance champion Jayne Torvill.
