The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) has published a consultative paper on the management of the radio spectrum.

The paper deals with the radio spectrum management environment in Malta and its effectiveness, the factors that influence that environment and the existing and emerging policy issues warranting consideration over the coming years.

The paper sets out the MCA's proposed strategy for maximising the radio spectrum resource over the next three to five years.

It also endeavours to ensure that the country can obtain the maximum benefits economically, strategically and in a wide social context, from the use of the radio spectrum.

The MCA said it will analyse and consider the comments received and publish a report on the consultation. This will be followed by the publication of a final strategy spanning the years 2007-2010 and a detailed work programme for 2007.

Copies of the consultative document Policy Review And Strategic Framework Of Radio Spectrum Management can be downloaded from the MCA website www.mca.org.mt. Copies can be obtained for free from the MCA's offices.

Submissions are to be received at the MCA by December 15.
