The Consultative Council for the South refused to discuss the LNG storage tank at Marsaxlokk arguing it was not a suitable forum to discuss the matter, the Nationalist Party said.
It said in a statement that during a council meeting of the council yesterday, the Opposition’s representative requested the chairman to put the issue on the agenda.
But the discussion was not held even though Environment Minister Leo Brincat had made it clear that the council had to work with experts to form an opinion on issues affecting the south.
It was difficult to justify that the biggest project in the south in this legislature was not an issue that should be brought up within the council, when had been formed to discuss such issues, the party said.
