Some 90 consuls of Malta in 49 countries will be here this week for the largest Consular Representation Conference to be organised so far by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The conference, between tomorow and Friday, will focus on business and trade relations with Malta, and will feature presentations by representatives of different sectors of the Maltese business community. There will also be 450 one-to-one meetings between consuls and business representatives.

Foreign Minister Tonio Borg said this was a unique opportunity for all those who wished to improve their business contacts and strengthen their business relations overseas.

“In the current difficult international scenario, the government is reinforcing its efforts to find new ways to help business and open up new possibilities of investment, which at the end of the day will result in more employment possibilities,” Dr Borg said.

The consuls will also be addressed by Infrastructure Minister Austin Gatt, Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Tonio Fenech and Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Mario deMarco.
