Dwejra is a mess and I shudder to think what it will be like once most of the sand has been scraped up. The first load of sand was swept to sea during the recent storms and the environmental damage done to this marine reserve by the introduction of alien substances (Where did the sand come from?) could well be far reaching.
The remains of the “glad-wrap” and shade cloth, which have already been blown into the sea, may well result in the death of many marine creatures!
No amount of money will restore any damage which has been or may still be done to the fossil beds. Whoever was responsible for organising this lucrative business should be heavily fined and steps should be taken to ensure that something like this never happens again.
