I must thank Russell Muscat for his very informative letter on the St Anne, Virgin and Child polychrome carving formerly in Fort St Elmo.

The most surprising item is that this carving, described in Michael Ellul’s 1988 book on Fort Elmo as being under conservation, apparently was put aside until 2014 when Heritage Malta started the whole process.

Is it too much to hope that this process will be ended in the near future and that, in a year or two, a good facsimile of the carving will be placed in the church of St Anne at St Elmo?
