Labour MP Godfrey Farrugia is in London for what he has described as a 'delicate and major operation' to tackle aggressive prostate cancer.

He was diagnosed in mid-August and received initial treatment at Mater Dei Hospitsl.

In a Facebook post he said he is in London with his partner Marlene and will undergo pre-op procedures on Monday ahead of the operation on September 15. Robotic arms will be employed for the operation.

"I feel confident and have peace of mind, I have many people to be grateful to" the former health minister said.

He said that in moments like this he thinks about the positives in life, and he wanted to beat this illness. He thanked the merciful Lord.
