The Conference of Religious Major Superiors (KSMR), representing all 29 religious orders in Malta and Gozo, expressed support with the Jesuits in their appeal against the construction of a shooting range complex close to Mount St Joseph Retreat House in Mosta.

In a statement, the KSMR said it supported the appeal primarily because it believed this was a just cause. Mount St Joseph retreat house was built 50 years ago and offered its service to innumerable persons who visited this place to spend time in silence, prayer and discernment over the years, and should be left to keep its identity as a retreat house.

Moreover, the house demonstrated the presence and service of the Jesuits in Malta. It was built with enormous sacrifice not only on the part of the Jesuits but also on the part of so many other people, so that Malta would be able to offer a retreat house such as this one.
