Renzo Spiteri, musical ambassador for the 2008 European Year of International Dialogue, will be presenting a concert during the launch of the European Year at St James Cavalier in Valletta tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Together with five other musicians, Mr Spiteri will present a new intercultural music project named Project No Borders.

Initiated a few weeks ago, the project will bring together musicians who are committed to sharing the ideology and benefits of an ever-increasing culturally diverse Europe.

The collaboration brings together a professional Maltese percussionist and guitarist, a Congolese musician previously engaged with the National Orchestra of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a Sudanese singer, an Eritrean guitarist and a Somali composer. The project is still in its infancy and more musicians from other communities are being invited to perform with the group in the coming months.

The evening at St James tomorrow, dubbed Festa 5, will see the participation of about 50 performers, animators and artisans in a series of events focusing of sound, vision, taste, touch and smell.

This experience which is open to the public will present dance, music, exhibitions, kids' and family activities, films and food from around the world.

The European Year of Intercultural Dialogue is an initiative of the European Union and coordinated in Malta by St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity.

The national project is co-funded by the Ministry for Tourism and Culture with the support of the National Lottery Good Causes Fund.
