Flimkien Ghal Ambjent Ahjar (FAA) has welcomed the decision by the Infrastructure Ministry to amend the Senglea Seafront embellishment plans in a way which will save most of the trees there.
In a statement, it said, however, that it was concerned about the future of the trees at Paola Square, where another embellishment project has been announced by the local council in association with the Resources Ministry. Artist's impressions show that the large old trees will be replaced by shrubs in pots.
The FAA urged the public to sign its ‘Stop Killing Trees’ petition which currently has 1,500 signatories.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the Resources Ministry said it was not responsible for the design of Paola Square and had only offered to assist Paola Council.
