Mapfre Middlesea and MSV Life took a number of VIP guests to watch the end of the Volvo Ocean Race at its final destination in Gothenburg. Mapfre owned one of the boats taking part.

Keith Mallia Milanes, Mapfre Middlesea assistant general manager, and two of the guests actually sailed on the Mapfre boat during the in-port practice race.

The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s toughest round-the-world boat race. The competing 65-foot sailing yachts left Alicante in October 2014 and sailed into their final destination in Gothenburg in June.

Air Malta assists Hospice Malta

Air Malta will be again assisting Hospice Malta in raising awareness of the Hospice’s aims and objectives among Air Malta’s customers. During the month of August, Air Malta’s cabin crew will be collecting donations on board the airline’s flights to help this organisation.

This initiative is also being supported by Sky Gourmet, the airline’s catering provider.

Hospice Malta was founded in 1989 and promotes and provides palliative care, with an average of 60 new referrals each month, and over 7,000 visits to patients and families every year.

Banif Bank is sponsoring two Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) at Inspire’s summer school.

The school, which provides educational and recreational activities for children aged three to12 years, is based at the Razzett tal-Ħbiberija in Marsascala and has been running for over 10 years.

“Although nowadays there is more awareness on the difficulties faced by people with disabilities, there is still a sense of separation which is largely built on common misconceptions rather than fact. This programme completely blurs those lines by allowing children to participate in the same activities, paving the way for equal opportunities for all,” Simon Grech, head of corporate service at Banif Bank, said.
