A single company was awarded three contracts by direct order worth a total of €179,632, information given in parliament shows.

Replying to a question by Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi, Justice and Culture Minister Owen Bonnici said the company was awarded by direct order a €58,000 contract to erect the stage, sound screens and other facilities for carnival 2014.

It got a €29,500 contract by direct order to clean up the Malta Shipbuilding site for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and a €92,132 contract for the temporary backstage and press facilities for the same event.

The same company was this year, after a call for tender, awarded the €75,600 contract for the stage facilities for this year’s carnival.

Contacted later, Dr Azzopardi said the company was Tec Ltd.
