P2M, one of Malta's leading fish farms, has successfully completed a €300,000 project which involved the installation of new pens for bass and bream farming.

The company installed 19 Oceanflex and five Aquaflex pens at its site off Malta's northern coast.

The project was supported by the European Fisheries Fund (EFF).

P2M has replaced old rubber pens with a modern tough Fusion Marine polyethylene-constructed farming system.

"These 60m Oceanflex and 40m Aquaflex three-ring pens are ideal for exposed farming locations, with their durable and flexible construction designed to withstand extreme weather conditions," the specialist website Fish Farmer said.

P2M was founded in 1990 and produced over 1,000 tonnes of sea bass, bream and meagre per annum. It employs more than 40 people in its farm and processing operations. The fish are sold whole on ice to the European Union, principally Italy.
