The communications authority is proposing that users of communication services receive a hard copy of their bills for free.

This is one of the suggestions made in a public consultation document the Malta Communications Authority will be holding until October 23.

The document, which can be accessed online, lists measures that would enable end users subscribed to an electronic communications service to be able to access their bills free of charge.

At the moment, the majority of service providers offer post-paid subscribers e-billing services, that is, the facility to access bills through the internet.

e-billing is beneficial from a cost and environmental perspective

The MCA said that though it appreciated that e-billing was beneficial from a cost and an environmental perspective, it was also aware that some subscribers might not have internet access. In such cases, subscribers are being charged a small fee to receive a hard copy of their bills. This measure is also being extended to telephony services for post-paid subscribers.

The document can be accessed at: www.mca.org.mt/consumer/consultations/standard-and-itemised-billing.

Those interested can send their feedback via e-mail at cer.mca@mca.org.mt or by post to the Chief of External Relations, Malta Communications Authority, Valletta Waterfront, Pinto Wharf Floriana, FRN1913 by not later than noon of October 23.
