I hope the director of the law courts in Valletta learnt a lesson from the commotion caused by a foreign individual last week while being escorted out of the courts from the Republic Street entrance. It was not only dangerous but also an embarrassment as the person called the police and Maltese racists.
Accused persons should be ushered out through the garage in Strait Street, where they can get into police vehicles in a more secure area. What if a criminal were to make a getaway from the policemen guarding him while being escorted out through Republic Street? I leave it to readers to anticipate the outcome.
