The Commissioner for Children has launched a Platform for Children for more coordinated action between the various government entities and NGOs which work for children.
She explained at a first meeting of the Platform, held yesterday, that although there were a substantial number of entities working in this sector, information and resources were not always available when needed.
“At times there is an overlapping and duplication of efforts and resources, while at other times there are gaps in issues that remain to be addressed, as well as an overall lack of awareness on initiatives being taken by other similar entities.”
She said it was therefore vital that there was improved coordination and cooperation amongst the entities concerned, in pooling resources where possible and exchanging examples of good practice with one another.
