Lombard Bank is issuing a limited edition silver ingot to commemorate Malta's accession to the European Union. The Ingot, which has been struck in Switzerland in 999 fine silver, weighs 100g and measures 35 mm x 60 mm x 5 mm thick. Each ingot is individually numbered and assay-marked and comes in a presentation box together with a signed certificate of authenticity. The issue is limited to 2,000 pieces, all in brilliant uncirculated condition. The selling price is Lm20 and the Bank has undertaken to donate to charity Lm1 for each ingot sold. The bank has launched a Website, www.maltacoins. com to coincide with the occasion.

Orders for the commemorative silver ingot are being accepted at all Lombard Bank branches in Malta and Gozo, as well as online.

The release of this silver ingot marks the bank's entry into the production and marketing of commemorative precious metal issues and its success should pave the way for future ones which will be similarly aimed at paying tribute to momentous events in Maltese history.
