The Ministry for Gozo said this afternoon that it had issued a call for tenders for the provision of a boat service for a resident of Comino who needs to go to Gozo hospital three times a week for dialysis.

The statement was issued a day after the resident told Labour leader Joseph Muscat that he spends €150 per week on transport to hospital because the government no longer provides a boat service.

The ministry said the Malta Community Chest Fund is considering the man's request to be refunded his expenses.

It regretted that this man's illness was used for political purposes.
