• Today San Lawrenz celebrates the feast of its patron saint with solemn Mass celebrated by vicar general Mgr Giovanni Gauci at 9 a.m. The Mnarja Band will play marches at 11 a.m. The procession starts at 7.45 p.m., accompanied by the Victory Band. A fireworks display will be held at 10.15 p.m..

• In memory of the late Fr Joseph Cauchi, who was well known for his holiness, his residence in San Lawrenz will be open to the public today between 6.30 p.m. and midnight. The house was first opened to the public by Bishop Nikol Cauchi 25 years ago.

• Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be holding a night vigil led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, on Saturday, eve of the feast of Santa Marija, between 8.15 p.m. and 10.15 p.m. The Gozitan Eucharistic Movement will lead the adoration, followed by Mass at midnight. People are asked to bring red candles to light during the vigil, which will be broadcast on Radju Marija 102.3 FM and 107.8 FM. Transport will be available from all parishes. • The Malta Aquarist Society (Gozo) will be holding the annual fish show at the Ninu Cremona Lyceum complex, Victoria, on Saturday between 8.30 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. and on Sunday between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. There will also be a bonsai exhibition.

• The traditional Santa Marija exhibition of livestock, vegetables, fruit and local crafts will be held at the Ninu Cremona Lyceum complex in Victoria on Saturday from 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8.30 a.m.

• Xagħra Scout Group will be holding a car wash at the Ġgantija Temples parking area on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

• The feast of Santa Marija will be celebrated at the Cathedral, Victoria, next Sunday. Tomorrow, the Leone Band will give a concert at Savina Square at 9.15 p.m. Outdoor festivities will start on Wednesday with evening band marches and fireworks.

The statue of Our Lady leaves the Cathedral parish centre on Friday at 9.30 p.m., with the participation of the Leone Band and the St Mary Band of Żebbuġ, followed by ground fireworks in Republic Street, Victoria.

The Cathedral Chapter will concelebrate Mass on Saturday at 8 a.m., followed by Mass for children celebrated by archpriest Joseph Attard with the participation of the Cathedral Youth Choir at 10 a.m. The Leone Band will play marches from the parish centre to the Cathedral at 5.30 p.m. The translation of the relic will take place at 6 p.m., followed by pontifical vespers.

At 8 p.m. archpriest Joseph Attard will celebrate a thanksgiving Mass on the 35th anniversary of the crowning of the titular painting of the Assumption, with the participation of the Chorus Ecclesiae Cathedralis. The Leone and Victory bands will play marches along Republic Street at 9.30 p.m. A fireworks display will be held at Savina Square.

On Sunday, Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will concelebrate pontifical Mass with the Cathedral Chapter at 9 a.m.

Horse races will be held at 2.30 p.m., followed by marches by the Leone Band from the parish centre to Cathedral Square at 6 p.m.

The procession with the statue of Santa Marija will start at 7 p.m., with the participation of the Leone band, the Chorus Ecclesiae Cathedralis and the Cathedral Youth Choir. There will be a fireworks display at 10 p.m. The Leone Band will play marches at 11.30 p.m. from Cathedral Square to Independence Square.

• The Gozo CCU Foundation will be holding a summer function at the Ta’ Mena Estate in Marsalforn Road on August 29 at 7.30 p.m. The Spectrum Band will entertain guests.
