• Today, Victoria celebrates the feast of St George. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, accompanied by the basilica Chapter and clergy, leads a procession from the Episcopal palace in Republic Street to the basilica at 8 a.m., followed by pontifical Mass, presided over by President George Abela. Marches by the St George (Qormi) and St Margaret (Sannat) bands will be held at 11 a.m.

• The Vicar General Mgr Giovanni Bosco Gauci leads pontifical vespers at 6 p.m. The procession, led by Mgr Grech leaves the basilica at 7.30 p.m. The La Stella Band will take part. The St Joseph (Għajnsielem) and Mnarja (Nadur) bands will perform on Independence Square and St George's Square respectively at 8.15 p.m. Festivities will come to an end with marches by the La Stella Band from Republic Street to St George's Square at 11 p.m.

• A special Mass for youths, led by Fr Joseph Magro,OFM, will be said at St Anthony's church, Għajnsielem, next Sunday at 11 a.m. The Ignite Band will take part. The Gospel will be animated.

• Wirt Għawdex, in conjunction with the Gozo Ministry, will launch a book by Horatio C.R. Vella entitled The Earliest Church Register in Gozo (1554-1628) at the Gozo Ministry, St Francis Square, Victoria, on Friday at 7 p.m. Stanley Fiorini, Mgr Joseph Bezzina and George Vella will introduce the book. This event will be in English and attendance is free.

•The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at the Savina church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• Fondazzjoni Ta' Klula of Sta Luċija, will be holding a traditional meal, L-Ikla tan-Nanna (grandmother's meal), at Sta Luċija's main square on July 31 at 8 p.m. Free transport will be provided from Mġarr and back. For more information and booking call 7955 9518 or e-mail info@santalucija.com.

• A Diocesan Marian Manifestation will take place at Marsalforn on July 29. The public is asked to be seated in Valley Road at 7.30 p.m. An animated rosary will be followed by a concelebrated Mass led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech.
