Representatives from five countries participating in the Comenius project entitled ‘Our European Newspaper’ recently visited Malta. The purpose of this visit was to launch and evaluate the third newspaper of a series of five, which the participants are have worked ontogether, and also to produce and to decide on the content of the fourth issue.

The Comenius group comprises representatives from Norway, Poland, England, Finland, the Czech Republic and Malta.

Three students from Poland accompanied their teachers during the visit and they stayed with the families of three Maltese students from St Nicholas College, Girls’ Secondary School, who are also collaborating in the project.

Apart from the meetings which took place at the school, the foreign participants were involved in a programme of cultural visits around Malta, set up by the Maltese representatives with the collaboration of members of the staff from the school.

The group toured Rabat and Mtarfa, visited the Mdina Experience, Verdala Palace, the Presidential Palace and the Armoury, St John’s Co-Cathedral and the Upper Barrakka in Valletta, as well as the Citadel in Gozo, ta’ Pinu Church and Xlendi Bay.

Comenius members also visited Attard Primary School, where they were given a presentation of traditional Maltese songs by the students. The Senior Management Team and the Parents’ Association also prepared food for the group.

This came to an end with a dinner at a restaurant in Għargħur, where certificates of participation were distributed.
