The Combined team faced The Rest in the third game of the series at the Marsa oval last weekend.

The Rest, who lost the opening two matches, won the toss and elected to bat first.

Nowell Khosla opened the bowling and was on fire, taking a wicket in his first over, that of Tim Wheeler who was caught behind after edging the ball. Joy Ghoseroy took the catch with relative ease.

Next to go was Justin Brooke who had only managed five runs. He was caught by Angelo Spiteri also from the bowling of Khosla. Faraaz Bhatti followed, giving Kevin Krishna his only wicket for five runs.

Andy Lenard was the only batsmen who brought respect to the batting, scoring 39. He hit two 4s along the way and took plenty of singles which showed the Marsa team were bowling up to standard.

The Rest were eventually bowled out for a mere 90 runs.

Ronnie Sacco did not help their cause by taking a hat-trick.

Ghoseroy and Mark G. Sacco opened the batting for the Combined team. Ghoseroy was first to go, being superbly bowled by Lenard with an inswinging Yorker. Ghoseroy had made 18 runs, including one boundary.

Sacco remained till the end, scoring a patient 40 not out and hitting four 4s along the way.

His brother, Ronnie, was next highest in the scoresheet, 26, also hitting four 4s along the way.

The Marsa team won comfortably to whitewash their opponents for a 3-0 series win.

On Saturday, the Chairman's XI will take on the Captain's XI. The game will start at 11 a.m.

The nursery activities get underway at 9.30 a.m. This will be the last session for the year and being a public holiday the organisers are urging beginners to come and try the sport.
