Screening for colorectal cancer has been temporarily suspended after barcode discrepancies were discovered in a screening round.

The Unit said that it had noticed that the barcode on test kits in one particular batch did not match the barcodes on screening invitation letters sent out.

All patients who were tested in the dodgy round have been informed and asked to retake the screening test, and a systems review is underway to determine what caused the discrepancy, the Primary Healthcare Unit said.

It said that it expects the systems review to take a few days.
