The evening of Friday, February 4, must have been the coldest evening so far this winter.

We arrived at the ManoelTheatre 20 minutes before the start of the orchestral concert.

The front door of the theatre was wide open and the heavy green curtains were all drawn back. There was a very cold draught and by the time the concert started most of the patrons present were freezing.

We heard foreign patrons commenting that the place was the coldest theatre they had been to so far.

Others said something along the lines of management not being aware that musical instruments needed a constant temperature.

Most patrons kept their coats or jackets on.
