A woman has been charged with trafficking cocaine and another two men will be charged in the coming days following the successful conclusion of an operation which started last Saturday, the police said.

They said in a statement that the 23-year-old woman, from the Czech Republic, arrived in Malta from Spain trying to import around a kilogram of what was suspected to be cocaine.

The police investigated and identified another two people involved - a 26-year-old Nigerian who lives in Spain and a 31-year-old Maltese man who lives in Bugibba.

The woman was charged with association, importation, trafficking and possession while the two men are expected to be arraigned shortly.
