A Nigerian, aged 33 years, is to be charged with cocaine trafficking today after drugs were allegedly found in his stomach as he arrived from Valencia, Spain on Thursday afternoon, the police said.

The Nigerian, who lives in Valencia, was stopped for a routine check by members of the police vice squad and the Customs drug section on arrival in Malta.

The police said that the man, who was acting suspiciously, was subjected to a medical test and an X-Ray at Mater Dei Hospital.

The X-Ray revealed that he had a number of capsules in his stomach allegedly containing cocaine, the police said.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli has opened an inquiry with the help of a team of court experts.
