A Slovak who was found with cocaine capsules in his stomach following his arrival at Malta on a direct flight from Brussels has admitted to conspiring to traffic and importing the drug.

The 26-year-old was stopped at the airport on Wednesday after he was seen acting in a suspicious manner. He was examined at Mater Dei Hospital where he was found to be carrying a kilo of cocaine in around 100 capsules.

This was not the first time that the man came to Malta.

The police told the court that eight of the capsules were still in his stomach.

The accused, who is a construction worker, was also charged with possession of the drug in circumstances which denoted it was not for his personal use.
