Running partners Trudy Kerr and Deborah Gatt are inviting people to take part in ‘Run the #WaveofChange’, a long-distance coastal marathon run aimed at collecting plastic waste that would otherwise have polluted the sea.

Participants may be involved either as runners in any of the seven run stages of the 126-kilometre coastal running route or as part of eight clean-up teams already organised across the island. Runners, running groups, staff of companies or corporations or members of the public are all welcome to join the teams.

The event will start at Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq on Saturday, April 13 at 6pm, and end at around 4pm next Sunday, April 14, followed by a party at Atlam Sub Aqua Dive Club.

There is no fee, and participants are being asked to collect at least three pieces of rubbish, take a photos of them and post them on social media using the hashtag #WaveOfChange.

Runners must apply in advance due to limited places via the initiative’s Facebook page at the site below.
