Coach tours to EU-funded projects in Malta and Gozo are to be organised this weekend to raise public awareness about them.

The Secretariat for Public Dialogue said  €412 million in EU funds have been invested in projects in Malta under a co-financing mechanism with the government.

Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said  said Rotta:EU07-13 as the initiative is being called, will give the public a first-hand opportunity to find out more about how the Cohesion Policy 2007- 2013 funds are being invested in Malta and Gozo. 

Among the projects that the public will be able to visit are the Sewage Treatment Plant in Xghajra, various laboratories at the University of Malta, the new hangar at the Malta Aviation Museum, the restoration project on the Mdina fortifications, institutes and laboratories at MCAST, the Radiology Unit at the Gozo General Hospital, works at Villa Rundle, works related to restoration and museums administration by the Fondazzjoni Ta' Pinu and Fondazzjoni Belt Victoria.

Route: EU07-13 will actually consist of six routes stopping  at different projects co-financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Cohesion Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF).

Refreshments will be served to members of the public who register for the tours, which take place on Saturday and Sunday.
