Owen Farrugia, co-founder of the Malta Pharmaceutical Association, has passed away aged 38.

"The Pharmacy Community has lost a great pharmacist. His contribution to pharmacy was highly significant especially to the area of Regulatory Affairs and teaching," the association said.

"Owen Farrugia dedicated his life to ensuring the availability of safe and effective medicines to patients. As a founder member of the Malta Pharmaceutical Association he disseminated his ideals of integrity and of putting the patient in perspective in pharmacy practice by his saying that the Patient is First," it added.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Cynthia and two children.
