Gridlock is likely to prevail tomorrow as major road arteries in the Marsa-Ħamrun area will be closed between 8.30pm and 11.30pm.

The police said yesterday that the Mrieħel bypass, the Marsa-Ħamrun bypass and Regional Road, between St Philip’s Hospital and the Marsa bypass, including the tunnels, would be closed for the feast of Santa Venera fireworks.

Motorists can use Psaila Street, St Joseph High Road and Parish Priest Mifsud streets in Santa Venera, Valley Road, in Msida, Mdina Road, in Mrieħel and Aldo Moro and December 13 roads, in Marsa.

Transport Malta said fireworks would be let off from a barge moored in the middle of Balluta Bay between tomorrow and Sunday. Mariners having vessels moored in the middle of Balluta Bay were told to remove them immediately.

Mariners are not to enter Balluta Bay during the firework displays.
