A man has been cleared of insurance fraud and handling stolen property.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona heard Martin Cassano plead not guilty to insurance fraud and handling stolen property to the value of Lm1,300 in November 2002.

Mr Cassano, a marine engineer, was cleared of insurance fraud involving a boat owner, after the case was insufficiently proven.

Police inspector Christopher Pullicino prosecuted.

Lawyer Robert Montalto appeared for the defence.
