FOI Council member and FOI Environment Committee chairman Godwin C. Micallef, has met Ing. Robert N. Farrugia and Ing. Charles E. Iskander Yousif from the Institute for Energy Technology, University of Malta, and Anton Pizzuto from the Cleaner Technology Centre (CTC).

The meeting was about the project entitled "Clean Development Mechanism", which is being made possible through the collaboration of the CTC. This mechanism is one of the main tools of the Kyoto Protocol, which Malta ratified in November 2001.

The CDM is a project-based mechanism that allows Annex I industrialised countries to invest in Green House Gas (GHG) abatement projects in developing countries.

As the federation believes its members can benefit from this initiative, especially in energy management, a circular was sent to all FOI members advising them on this initiative. Any reader wishing information is to contact FOI executive Cecilia Vella on tel: 2123-4428, 2122-2074.
