Valletta put behind them their disappointing 1-1 draw against Sliema Wanderers as they brushed aside Hibernians 3-1 in an impressive attacking display from the Citizens.

After a balanced start to the match, the Citizens took control just past the half hour mark.In a swift raid, Abdelkerim Nafti sent a precise througball towards Denni who beat Hibernians’s offside trap, rounded goalkeeper Jurgen Borg before depositing the ball into an empty net.

Hibs were stunned and they conceded a second goal three minutes later.Valletta were awarded a corner kick from which Shaun Bajada’s cross was met by Jonathan Caruana whose firm header flew into the top corner of the net.

The Citizens all but wrapped up the points on 56 minutes when Ryan Fenech sped into the area before cutting the ball back towards Lateef Elford-Alliyu.

The English striker quickly transferred the ball towards the unmarked Nafti who buried the ball past Borg.Hibs managed to pull a goal back on 70 minutes when Jurgen Degabriele picked Jean Paul Farrugia in the area and the Hibs striker hit a firm drive past Valletta goalkeeper Nukri Revishvili.

Valletta winger Abdelkerim Nafti was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
